# Batch Production System Implementation Summary

## Overview
This document summarizes the batch production system implementation for the restaurant inventory management system. The system allows restaurants to produce items in batches (like chai, daal, biryani, etc.) and track inventory consumption accurately.

## What Has Been Implemented

### 1. Database Structure ✅
- **batch_recipes** table: Stores batch recipe definitions (name, yield unit, default batch size, expiry days)
- **batch_recipe_items** table: Stores ingredients for each batch recipe
- **batch_productions** table: Records when batches are produced
- **batch_stocks** table: Tracks available batch stock with expiry dates
- **batch_consumptions** table: Records batch consumption from sales
- Added **batch_recipe_id** and **batch_serving_size** fields to `menu_items` and `menu_item_variations` tables

### 2. Models/Entities ✅
- `BatchRecipe`: Main batch recipe model
- `BatchRecipeItem`: Batch recipe ingredients
- `BatchProduction`: Production records
- `BatchStock`: Available batch stock
- `BatchConsumption`: Consumption tracking
- Updated `MenuItem` and `MenuItemVariation` models with batch recipe relationships

### 3. Livewire Components ✅
- **BatchRecipesList**: List and manage batch recipes
- **BatchRecipeForm**: Create/edit batch recipes
- **ProduceBatch**: Modal to produce batches (deducts raw ingredients, creates batch stock)
- **BatchInventoryList**: View batch inventory levels

### 4. Inventory Deduction Logic ✅
- Modified `UpdateInventoryOnOrderReceived` listener to:
  - Check if menu item/variation uses batch recipe
  - If yes: Deduct from batch stock (FIFO method)
  - If no: Use existing recipe deduction (raw ingredients)
  - Creates `BatchConsumption` records for tracking

### 5. Routes ✅
- Added routes for batch recipes and batch inventory pages

## What Still Needs to Be Done

### 1. View Files (Partially Complete)
- ✅ Batch recipes list view
- ✅ Batch recipe form view
- ⚠️ Produce batch modal view (component created, view needed)
- ⚠️ Batch inventory list view (component created, view needed)

### 2. Menu Item Integration
- Add batch recipe selection field to menu item creation/edit forms
- Add serving size field for batch recipes
- Update menu item forms to show batch recipe options

### 3. Batch Expiry & Waste Handling
- Create scheduled job/command to check for expired batches
- Auto-mark expired batches
- Create waste movements for expired batches
- Handle batch expiry notifications

### 4. Reports
- Batch Production Report (what was produced, when, cost)
- Batch Consumption Report (how much was used, remaining)
- Batch Waste/Expiry Report
- Update COGS report to use batch costs

### 5. Permissions
- Add permissions for:
  - Create Batch Recipe
  - Update Batch Recipe
  - Delete Batch Recipe
  - Show Batch Recipe
  - Produce Batch
  - Show Batch Inventory

### 6. Language Files
- Add translation keys for all batch recipe related strings
- Files needed:
  - `Modules/Inventory/Resources/lang/eng/batch-recipe.php`
  - `Modules/Inventory/Resources/lang/ar/batch-recipe.php` (if Arabic support exists)

### 7. Navigation/Menu Integration
- Add "Batch Recipes" link to inventory menu
- Add "Batch Inventory" link to inventory menu
- Add "Produce Batch" button/action in appropriate places

### 8. Additional Features
- Batch stock low/out of stock warnings
- Batch production history
- Batch transfer between kitchens (future)
- QR code/batch ID generation (future)

## Key Features Implemented

1. **Batch Recipe Management**: Create recipes that define how to make batches (e.g., 1 litre of chai requires X milk, Y sugar, Z tea leaves)

2. **Batch Production**: When a batch is produced:
   - Raw ingredients are deducted from inventory
   - Batch stock is created
   - Cost per unit is calculated
   - Expiry date is set (if configured)

3. **Automatic Inventory Deduction**: When a menu item is sold:
   - System checks if it uses a batch recipe
   - If yes, deducts from batch stock (not raw ingredients)
   - Uses FIFO (First In First Out) method
   - Tracks consumption for reporting

4. **Batch Stock Tracking**: 
   - View available batch stock
   - Track expiry dates
   - Monitor batch status (active/expired/finished)

4. **Create Expiry Handler**: Build scheduled job to handle batch expiry
5. **Add Reports**: Create batch-related reports
6. **Add Permissions**: Define and register permissions
7. **Test**: Comprehensive testing of the entire flow

## Notes

- The system uses FIFO (First In First Out) for batch consumption
- Batch stock can have expiry dates
- Cost per unit is calculated when batch is produced
- Menu items can use either regular recipes (raw ingredients) or batch recipes
- POS interface remains unchanged - complexity is hidden in backend
